San Diego, Ca - Women's alcoholism problem is getting noticed and in a positive way! We were invited by Channel 10 News reporter Nina Jimenez, to help their women viewers to know that treatment is available for their alcohol problem. The news report noted the current increase in treatment admissions. "Experts See More Women with Substance Abuse Problems"

 

There are thousands of women throughout the country suffering from the effects of alcoholism and too embarrassed by the problem to seek help. At Lasting Recovery's Women's Morning Intensive Outpatient Program we talk about the multiple 'tries' these women have been through to stay sober. Most talk about not being honest about relapses, with their therapist, psychiatrist or physician. Others talk about spending a night or two in jail due to an arrest for a DUI.  The guilt and shame they experience only leads them to feel inadequate and the cycle goes on until there is some sort of intervention from a family member, the legal system or health care provider.

How can we help?  Make more programs like this available to viewers to learn about substance abuse and addiction.
