About Lasting Recovery

 

Lasting Recovery, opened in July 2004, is "the answer" to a problem encountered by the founders, Judy Saalinger, Ph.D., MFT, CAS and Arthur Farkas, Ph.D., a husband and wife team who have many years of recovery from addictions themselves.

 

"I wanted a change. As a licensed Marriage, Family Therapist since 1981, and Certified Addiction Specialist through the American Academy of Healthcare Providers in the Addictive Disorders since 1995, I had been working with individuals and families in healing from addictions. I love the work!"

 

"I also provided group treatment, educational workshops, and trainings to alcohol and drug counselors on the FEARLESS CHANGE process of recovery, and wanted to include regular teaching on addictions into my private practice setting."

 

I posed this question to the universe, "How can I include my love of service and teaching others about addiction with my love of providing therapy?"

 

Within time, came the answer, 'Expand your practice into an intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP) so you can do both in the same office setting. Get Arthur, a licensed Psychologist, to help you.'  It was like the last puzzle piece, clicking loudly, fitting into place. Lasting Recovery Intensive Outpatient Treatment for Alcohol and Drugs was born!

We put the Evening Intensive Outpatient program together:

• July 2004 - Opened the doors to Lasting Recovery
• January 2005 - Became California state certified
• November 2006 - Contracted by Blue Cross to provide IOP services to their members
• August 2007  - Contracted by Value Options to provide IOP services to their members
• May 2007 - Opened the Day Program for Women
• June 2008 - We are completing the stringent requirements to apply for accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Mission:  Lasting Recovery serves the needs of women and men needing education and treatment to stop the destructive and fatal symptoms of alcoholism and drug addiction and develop relapse prevention skills for maintaining abstinence.

 

We work with individuals and families, psychiatrists, therapists, psychologists, family and primary care physicians, detox facilities, attorneys, employers, universities and diversion boards who want confidential, professional and caring primary Intensive Outpatient care. We serve those persons who are suffering from addictions, are still able to work and/or attend school, and want tomorrow to be a better day!

We refer to a network of:

*    interventionists         *detox facilities     *transitional/ sober living homes

*    psychiatrists              *psychotherapists who specialize in addiction recovery

 

Lasting Recovery provides a step down level of care for those patients discharging from Inpatient Treatment Facilities, by providing Intensive Outpatient Care, Aftercare groups, and psychotherapy to help the individual and family take actions that were outlined in primary inpatient treatment.
